Why wasn't Karl Rove successful in establishing that unstoppable Republican juggernaut for the next 50 years?

The problem is that he was entirely too successful in implementing the Republican agenda, and it turned out that it is only a really good deal for rich people. If it worked out all that well for everybody, people would still be supporting it.
