Becoming a fireman after the Army?

Ok, I am currently in the Army stationed in South Korea, i plan on getting out of the military in feb. 2013. I just have a quick question: will military experience help me out in getting a spot at a fire department? I do understand i have to have the educational skills as well but will military experience help? any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
